| Abstract: | The paper demonstrates the peculiar functioning (inside a pronominal anaphorical series) of what we shall name characterising anaphora, illustrated by means of a text by Flaubert, as well as the issue its translation might raise, namely the way in which the misreading of the contextual values and uses of a particular part of speech can (by the use of the demonstratives cela or ça and the indefinite on) account for certain mistranslations. |
