| Abstract: | The Fragments de théâtre by Samuel Beckett have been translated by the author himself under the title Roughs for theatre. This work of self-translation highlights a constant search for comic energy, which, in its French version, takes the means of a language with multiple accidents sustained by a rich vocabulary and a taste for common phrases, whereas the English version shows a play on the accents, linguistic puns and phonic associations. |
