| Abstract: | The objective of this article consists of the presentation of the dramatic text Le bourru bienfaisant published in French in 1771 by Carlo Goldoni as well as the salient characteristics of his Italian selftranslation published eighteen years later under the title Il burbero di buon cuore. We will attempt to briefly define the principal manipulations that the dramatist, acting as selftranslator, carries out in his text in order to italianize and adapt it to the target audience. |
