Abstract: | In the communist period, when the official language had to be adopted by the entire population, there also existed a language of the ruled, one that had a clandestine circulation and made use of nicknames, ironical lexical creations, and jokes. In the post totalitarian political language, the language of the ruled has nowadays become official, being spread by the mass media. The multitude of patterns of expression is varied, ranging from nicknames, ironical and deprecatory lexical creations to slogans and overtly violent language. |
