Abstract:
  • The paper focuses on the formation of patronyms in Romanian, more precisely through the suffix: -escu, the most productive Romanian suffix. The study of the Romanian derivation system leads us to the etymology of such anthroponyms. Nowadays, the anthroponymic suffix: -escu can be attached to many bases, of various types and different origins.
