Abstract:The present stage of the Romanian-Slavic linguistic studies allows us to make several considerations on the Slavic lexical elements present in the Romanian language. The first issue to discuss is the lexical stock of Slavic origin common to all Romanian dialects. The second issue represents the Romanian- Slavic contacts in every dialect. Regarding the old Slavic borrowings present in Romanian, we have to admit that there has been a wide territory which favoured the Romanian- Slavic linguistic contacts. As these contacts still exist in various regions, it is necessary to establish a more exact division into periods of the Slavic borrowings into the Romanian language, and at the level of dialects, the Slavic idiom (dialect) out of which the word borrowed into Romanian comes.
