Abstract:The analysis of the chosen text, The sermon on the mountain, has a double perspective: linguistic and exegetic, on the basis of the theories developed by Paul Imbs and Gustave Guillaume.
In this paper we are going to identify the values of the temporal verbal forms, mainly of the present tense, viewed as an omni-temporal, prophetic tense, even prolonged into the future, and of the future with its diverse range of significations. The compound past tense (fr. passé composé), as a tense connected with the present and the imperfect (fr. imparfait), with its non-perfective values, are also taken into account, along with the simple past (fr. passé simple) and the pluperfect (fr. plus-que-parfait).
The temporal architecture reveals that the Word of Jesus is a sacred reality which can be understood from experiencing the human speech in real Life.
