Abstract: | This research questions the Christ’s love in the contemporary biblical renditions and evaluates new perspectives on it. It focuses on a convoluted network built around common themes that are tackled differently. Anne Sexton (The Complete Poems), Eduardo Manet (My Life as Jesus) and D. H. Lawrence (The Man Who Died) projects an incestuous relation between Jesus and his mother. They are exalting the resurrection of the body of Christ. Contrary, Saramago (The Gospel according to Jesus Christ) creates a wonderful story about the carnal love between Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene, his unique possibility of redemption, inspirited from the Song of Songs. |
