This linguistic study casts a new light on the terminology in general and on the physical and chemical terminology of the XIXth century in particular. The article studies: the level of “scientificity” in relation with the type of field division in “ subfields”; the relation linguistic – extra-linguistic in the conceptual development of sciences and the modernization of the terminology through its metalanguage. The lexicographical information together with the textual information clarifies, among other things, the combination between the conceptual contents and the terminological form in each field of knowledge. Physics and chemistry have a great affinity for interdisciplinarity. It is noticed the use of the “semantized” suffixation as a specific construction of the chemical terms.
Acest studiu lingvistic aruncă o nouă lumină asupra terminologiei în general şi asupra terminologiei fizice şi chimice a secolului al XIX-lea, în particular. Articolul studiază: nivelul ,,ştiinţificităţii” în relaţie cu tipul diviziunii domeniilor în subdomenii; relaţia lingvistic – extra-lingvistic în dezvoltarea conceptuală a ştiinţelor şi modernizarea terminologiei prin metalimbajul său. Informaţiile lexicografice împreună cu informaţiile textuale clarifică, printre altele, combinaţia dintre conţinutul conceptual şi forma terminologică în fiecare domeniu al ştiinţei. Fizica şi chimia au o afinitate extraordinară cu interdisciplinaritatea. Se observă uzul sufixării ,,semantice” ca o construcţie specifică a termenilor chimici.
