Abstract: | Our paper deals with several lexical English elements in the play Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, and their translation in Romanian. Our approach is mainly a descriptive one, the main purpose of our research being the recording and analysis of linguistic data offered by the English play and its Romanian versions. We focus on the hyponymic series of the word dog and on the the special case of the word equivocator, in our attempt to show the disponibility of the Romanian language to convey meanings that might prove problematic in the translation process. |
Key words: | Macbeth, Romanian translations, hyponyms, abstract nouns |
