In this article we intend to study the way in which false cognates appear in translation. Translation is indeed a complex activity which implies changing speech or writing into another language. The accuracy of this changing may be endangered by the use of inappropriate terms which bear a slight resemblance to the appropriate term. The slight resemblance turns out to be dangerous for the translator and for the translation. False cognates prove to be mistakes that can easily be avoided.
