| Abstract: | The paper is a study of the novel La Sorcière by the French contemporary writer Marie NDiaye from the standpoint of the significances that magical realism vests with, in postmodernity, the sacred. We also have in view the idea of democratization of the sacred, in terms of access to and ruling of this cultural category nowadays. Our main objective is to understand the stakes of using the supernatural field in the literary text, as a competing, full-rights code in relation to the code of realism, as well as to analyse the mechanisms that are used, to eventually articulate possible readings. |
