Abstract:One of the most complicated task of the Romanian etymology is to follow the history of the autochthonous words that are part of our vocabulary. Among these words, the word balaur (dragon) is fascinating not only by its story, but, also, by the mysterious legends and fairy-tales which evoke the world of the dragons in the Romanian mythology. The etymologic variants for this word are diverse and intricate.
