The paper tries to be a brief comparative approach of the gender mark for the nouns in Romanian and in English. As we all know, the grammatical category of gender is a fundamental one for the nominal flexion in Romanian while in English it is not of great importance. This paper is not intended to be an exhaustive analysis of this matter, the gender mark of Romanian and English nouns, but the basis of our future research paper.
