Abstract:This paper aims to present a new semantic approach of the Romanian medical terminology, and especially of the most common and general medical terms. This method is based on the generative lexicon which proposes a representation of the lexical meaning that is richer and better structured than other theories. Taking into account the generative lexicon, and particularly the qualia structure, we will discover the way in which some noun phrases in the medical terminology are formed.
Key words:semantic interpretation, noun phrase, medical terms, the generative lexicon, qualia structure
