Abstract: | This paper aims to demonstrate a new method for the interpretation of the noun phrase. This method is based on the generative lexicon presented by James Pustejovsky. The novelty brought by the generative lexicon is that it proposes a representation of the lexical meaning that is richer and better structured than other theories. Throughout this paper we will show, by taking into account the generative lexicon and especially the qualia structure, the way in which the head-noun selects its adjuncts in order to form semantically correct noun phrases. |
