Abstract:The genuine intercultural encounter is direct, personal, an individual life experience, which means authenticity. Both for the teacher and for the learner, which neither in the school even in everyday life are confronted with cultural and linguistic diversity, it is of course much more difficult to create and to convey respectively to understand a foreign context. On the basis of an empirical study in the present paper are followed two issues: which is the importance of authenticity especially in the acquisition of intercultural communicative competence and how authentic materials are used in university teaching of foreign languages, so that learners can be prepared for the multicultural society both linguistically and culturally and what they have learned can be successfully implemented in practice.
