Abstract:[French anthroponymy: All or nearly all... on and about Nicolas]
All around in our vast world as well as in every language in every country, for each first name there are innumerable variations and derived words of all kinds in onomastics (diminutives, hypocoristics and others) and lexicography (derived vocabulary, popular expressions and proverbs among others). Regarding the first name Nicolas, chosen on this occasion as the main theme within French anthroponymy, this study, although not exhaustive due to the enormous volume of items, will show all the qualitative and quantitative richness of this national and, to some extent, international and multilingual field of research, certainly original, but above all productive from the point of view of socio-onomastics and philology.
Key words:anthroponymy, French, first names, family names, diminutives, hypocoristics, localisations
Language: French
