Abstract:[On onomastic derivational suffixation. A particular usage related to politics]
The onomastic-epistemological approach to proper names implies different research fields ranging from etymology and diachronic evolution, to questions of the creation of proper names in synchrony and their derivatives. The latter aspect includes derivational suffixes used to form new terms from radicals, with antonomasia as its culmination, as in the case of the term trash (Poubelle in French), containers for storing garbage and the prefect of Seine, Eugène René Poubelle, who established this “custom” by an order of 1883. The phenomenon of antonomasia refers to various modes of transformation of an original lexical unit into one or more terms that will integrate lexical norms in relation to the use that will be assigned, regardless of the lexeme concerned.
This paper will analyse the implementation of suffixed creations derived from politicians’ names, created via the mass media and the Internet.
Key words:onomastics, lexical unit, suffixation, anthroponomy, politics
