Abstract: | [The Romanian Literature in Hungary] The Romanian Literature in Hungary is the first attempt at making obvious the creative resources of the writers of Romanian literature, bringing forward the first synthetic work of this kind. The present study is part of a larger volume to be published, which is meant to cover all the literary genres and forms at hand for the writers in Hungary. The works of the writers mentioned here as well as their activity for the Romanian literary journals in Hungary are at the very basis of this study. Our research covers both the writers born and educated in Hungary and those who belong to the source literature in Romanian who have come to join the Romanian literature in Hungary, making known the Romanian literary values. The choice of the tools used in this study depends on the specific methods the study makes use of: on the one hand, the inventory, the bibliography of the literary authors specific to the literary history and the analysis of the type of works (genres, species, etc) and of the works proper specific to the literary criticism applied to literary synthesis. All that influences the structure of the volume put into discussion in this the study: an evolution of the Romanian literature proper in Hungary according to the stages and the gradual forms of the literary journalism (chiefly, the pages for the literature) in the first part of this study together with the analysis of the contribution of each writer, and a bibliographical index for the authors at the end of it. Writing in Romanian the writers in Hungary were not organized in literary groups or circles or literary formative workshops. The writers made their first account thanks to their intellectual efforts, their amazing tenacity and their own initiatives. The genuine Romanian creation in Hungary was late as a result of the late setting up of journalism in Romanian as well as of the late possibility of attending Romanian schools. The first period (1950-1960) is the stage of the first attempts, that is of those journalistic and publicistic exercises meant to bring into relief the resources of the literary language when is well mastered. For lack of remarkable writers the Romanian periodicals in Hungary („Libertatea noastra”, „Foaia noastra”) as well as the occasional ones („Calendarul nostru”, „Timpuri”) resorted to the outside help, that is to the contributors in Romania, or to translations from Hungarian poetry. Between 1960-1970, the Romanian journal in Hungary comes to dedi with the literature proper and with the genuine creators belonging to the Romanian community. The period between 1971-1980 records from this period „Foaia noastra” and its staff contributed mostly to a genuine literature. The first volume of genuine literary works called Muguri (1973). The period 1980-1990 can be considered the most fruitful stage which sheds light upon a group of Romanian writers from Hungary or from Romania that becomes famous for their volumes and upon the new generation of writers. The literary works proper come out late a result of the activity undertaken by the intellectuals within their community (school, language, local history etc) and of the postponing of the necessary steps meant to impel the “birth” of the new literary creators. The great distance between the well-known group of literary writers (university professors) and that of the writers belonging to the Romanian community here (writers known thanks to the Romanian journals) brings about two directions: one which is reformist, that is centred found the Budapest editorial staff and another one which is quite reticent and inclined towards certain themes. |
