Abstract:[Romanian Language Semantics. The Case of Some Recuperated and Recuperating Values]
The article aims to revisit certain areas of Romanian semantics from the perspective of the lexical material stored in Dicţionarul limbii române [The Romanian Language Dictionary] volumes. Devised under the aegis of the Romanian Academy, DLR is the richest lexical source of the Romanian language available at present. This source reveals pertinent and extremely relevant linguistic information in the context of the Romance languages. In its essence, the lexical material which serves as an argument comprises three cases: the verbs a (se) holba [to stare], a (se) lăsa [to let (oneself)] and the group of Romanian neologisms beginning with the letters w, x and y.
