Abstract:The study focuses on the importance of translation as an essential way of Romania’s opening towards Europe, as a certification of our belonging to the Latin family, as an escape from the lethargic isolation in which was brought and kept for centuries by the successive foreign domination. The author brings into focus the translations made by the Romanian scholars in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century, when the relations of our country to Europe and mainly France amplify and grow tighter.
Key words:translation, europenization, French model
