| Abstract: | [From the Tre Re to the Pacific and Parlapà, through the Croix d’or: A linguistic-cultural journey through the hotels of Turin] The aim of this research is to describe changes and continuities in hotel names in Turin and its surroundings. Starting with hotels names that were already mentioned in the fifteenth century, the study analyses references in later documents from public administration (from the Turin court, during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries), as well as from eighteenth- and nineteenth-century travel guides, and finally reaches contemporary names. We will focus on main onomastic categories, investigating the reasons for their persistence in the European culture and local traditions. For each century, the onomastic characteristics will be highlighted. |
