[Italian mineral water names]
An initial list containing some of the names analysed in this paper was compiled after browsing various websites. The corpus was then gradually and continuously expanded and integrated by the thorough study of specific publications. The current names and registered trademarks pertain almost entirely to the Italian tradition, albeit the frequent occurrence of neologisms of classical or foreign origin, which are used for commercial and image-related reasons. Many names of Italian mineral water brands comprise a common noun (e.g. Water, Spring, Source, and so on) and a toponym. There are also some designations that include verb phrases based on irregular verbs, dialectal variations and modifications, some graphic-based univerbations, and elaborate descriptions.
