The aim of the paper is to analyze some Byzantine sources in order to find and compare different toponymy used to describe the region of Srem in modern Northern Serbia, a region situated between rivers Sava and Danube. The region was very important for the Byzantine Empire, especially during the periods of struggles with medieval Hungarian state. That is why the sources richest in different names for Srem are the historians from the period of the Comnene dynasty-John Kinnamus and Niceta Choniates.
There are a lot of interesting names found for Srem in the Byzantine sources. Most of them come from the various forms of the name for ancient Sirmium. But also, there are toponyms that came from the period of Frankish rule in Pannonia and Srem. Church sources and imperial Novellas bring us also interesting names for the region of Srem that are of Slavic origin.
