| Abstract: | [Official Name and Virtual Name (Nickname)] Along with the official, institutionally formalised name (used in church, registry office, family, school, everyday life and so on), Internet virtual environment is hosting for several decades now a new type of name – nickname (ID, nick, code name), creating a distinct species/category of „netizens”. This virtual name encompasses the most important features of hypertext: nonlinearity – which has not yet peaked; the new names clearly show creativity and expressive language in the denomination of users; virtuality (as phenomenon and space where it occurs and is authenticated); citationality (is citable); fragmentation (the new name is selected by the owner himself); variativity (it may vary depending on the context), takes part in internautic dialogism; indicates the interactivity of this type of communication; distinguishes author’s depersonalization, ranking it into a kind of anonimity, it transforms its identity into duplicitous or multiplicitary, linguistic inclusive; offers openness, freedom and temporal and spatial independence; is involved in the game of signifiers; refuses hierarchicity (all nicknames having the same status); reflects the democracy of communicative relations. |
