Abstract:[Anthroponymy and the internationally-minded generations of Baia Mare]
Our world is getting more interconnected and our communities are becoming more diverse. Children cannot have a successful future without a sense of international mindedness, as in the future they may work in Romania for companies run from different continents, owned and managed by people from different cultures or may even work in several different countries, with colleagues from cultures scattered all over the world. The present paper focuses on the foreign influences on the names of children who have the chance to become an internationally-minded generation by carrying this spirit in their own identity, in their birth names. Given this context, the names used in Baia Mare between 2004 and 2007 seem to already be adjusted to the globalized world we are facing.
