Almost two decades ago, when we have focused on the terminology from the Romanian music area, a possible inventory at that time would not have contained a word like manea. Nowadays, it seems unforgivable to ignore this term defining a musical genre very important in the life of Romanian people. It is impossible to deny the fact that the manea and those who sing it launched a musical trend, a phenomenon that dominates the Romanian cultural area. The degradation of our national values in terms of music preferences due to the kitsch “productions” threatens the identity of the Romanian culture.
