Abstract: | Texted messages on mobile phones are a prevalent mode of conveying regards in contemporary China, where this use of language reflects a shift in cultural values and customs. By analyzing the texted messages of two internet corpora, this article aims to shed light on linguistic and extralinguistic constraints on speakers’ linguistic options when they formulate such messages. |
