Abstract: | [Kosovo, Divergent Interests] The dismantling of the Republic of Yugoslavia, the “Big Slavic State”, a dream of Serbia since 1389, after the defeat against the Ottoman Empire, couldn’t be achieved peacefully because the ideals of the Serbian diplomacy have been shattered. This situation was unacceptable to the Serbs. The hot spot of conflicts, in former Yugoslavia, was the start of Kosovo separation from Serbia, which is thus punished by the Western powers. Alongside Serbia stood Russia, a traditional ally, advocate of Serbia and thereby advocate of its own interests, in conflict with the Western ones. |
