Abstract:[The Seasons of Love and Feminity in Radu Tudoran’s Anotimpuri] It has been said more than once that Radu Tudoran proved himself to be a master of the feminine character and that all his novels tackle, at different levels, with the theme of love. The novel Anotimpuri is not an exception from this point of view and, alongside the depiction of the world of aviation – which is not just a pretext for the romantic adventure, the novel’s main character, Manuela, reveals different shades of femininity in accordance with the male figure she is associated with. Thus, she wavers between two male prototypes – the mentor (Vladimir) and the seducer (Ades) – that will reveal two “ages” of womanhood: the girl/the apprentice and the woman/the lover. The end of the novel brings forth, with the end of winter, the dawn of a new spring: accepting a philosophy of failure, both Manuela (pregnant with Ades’s child) and Vladimir meet in the virtuality of a new beginning and of a new “age”: that of motherhood. Or so we might think.
