Abstract: | The influence of both the Bible and the Christian tradition in Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy is major. To Dante, the Bible (especially the New Testament) is a source of metaphors, legends, images which he uses in his poem with the purpose of emphasizing its meanings. This paper aims at verifying if the biblical images used by Dante are to be found in two Romanian translations of the Paradise in order to see how the translators have managed to transmit both the form and the signification of the Italian text. |
