Abstract:This research investigates the semantic evolution of military terms relying on the precise examples. According to this evolution, the author stands out for many types of terms related to the military terminology: determinological, terminological and polysemantic. After a deep analysis of all those types, it comes out that the military terminological language is illustrated by the evolution of the military field, comprising its interrelated subsystems that are in a continuous process of change. Moreover, this perpetual change brings about both the occurrence of new phenomena and the elusiveness of old ones. The author asserts that the semantic evolutions of the military terminological meta-language are a prominent attribute of the Romanian language as a whole that also evolves, in order to adjust to the communication needs of the society.
Key words:terminological meta-language, military terminology, determinological words, terminological words, polysemantic terms, terminological macro-system
