Abstract: | In this article there are disclosed mythical archetypes based on relevant examples from folk poetry. The metaphor of the well present in the epic texts about the sacrifice of creation is also borrowed by some versions of the ballad cycle about an unsuccessfully married daughter, finding its specification in the „myth of Danaids’ pains” that have been condemned by the gods because they avoided marriage. The analyzed images depict the presence of Danaidic complex in a specific ethnological context where texts and versions in circulation become obvious ethical significance and deepen new dimensions of popular spirit. |
Key words: | ballad cycle, ethnological context, anonymous genius, emblematic symbol, mythical suggestion, Danaidic complex, cultural layers |
