| Abstract: | When analyzing the larger category of the legendary, we can easily notice that the character is assigned a privileged position, especially in the cases when he is identified as the discursive reflection of a historically-attested person. We are mainly dealing with a character-sign, that exists and acquires significance in the context of a product - the legend, itself an expression of both culture and mentalities. The factual story/fictional story dichotomy is less operative within the texts of folk culture, the semiotic status of the character carrying the consequences of this neutralization. |
