Abstract: | Due to the political changes that occurred in the after war Romanian history, the literary landscape was dramatically modified. in order to see their works published, writers had to give in, make concessions, create pieces that followed the directions of a soviet literature school, whose main aim was to enforce the communist mentality. Ioana Postelnicu opted for a rather neutral way. First, she oriented her interest towards children’s prose, then towards history, and later on, she took the autobiographical pass, writing travel journals and the story of her life. even so, her work also comprises realistic-social novels that depict a communist world which she seems to agree with, even prize. a prolific writer up to her death, Ioana Postelnicu – a woman of letters of unquestionable merits and talent – unfortunately failed throughout this period of time to rise to the literary value of her début. |
