Abstract:The present study aims to show the first results of a work in progress on linguistic complexity in the French Catalonia and the emotional reactions that this situation causes on still Catalan speakers. Since there are some statistical studies about the situation of Catalan in the Northern Catalonia, this research has focused on using a qualitative method of research in two key areas for transmission of language: the family and the school. Interviewees explain their linguistic experience and their perception of Catalan language situation, meanwhile the main objective of an interviewer is to discover emotional aspects deposited in language.
