Abstract: | This article aims to compare two transcriptions of the same oral traditional tale from Tunisia – Conseil nous reçumes (We received advice) in order to catch the differences of interpretation of two authors – a woman poet and a sociologist. These differences can be explained by their training and their gender or by their different conception about transcription that reveals, in our opinion, the interpretation of the text by the translator better than any other translation. While the sociologist Abdelwahab Boudhiba who means to illustrate the role of the tale in the personality of the Tunisian child gives a version that stresses on the oral side of translation and of tradition, the version of the woman poet Amina Saïd, founded on the reading and re-reading of available works, proceeds by expansions, associative anaphors or developments of hyperomyms on order to suggest modernity. |
