Abstract:
  • Centuries have passed since Bulgarians and Romanians have become neighbours – there by since they share a lot of things in common, in the domains of language, folklore, history.
We might even say that these two peoples have been created starting from the same ethnical components, as initial ingredients, but in a different ratio for each of them.
Common elements are much more easily remarked in toponymy: on the opposite Danube’ sides, we may notice towns and villages, rivers, various localities bearing the same names: Бистрица/ Bistriţa, Въртоп/ Vârtop, Градина/ Grădina, Ливада/ Livada, Липница/ Lipniţa, Радомир/ Radomir, Роман/ Roman, Слатина/ Slatina, Сопот/ Sopot, Стража/ Straja, Търговище/ Târgovişte, Ябланица/Iablaniţa and there are many more such cases.
