The study reflects the linguistic research in the domain of toponymy, evincing the main research directions and aspects: collecting the onymic material by undertaking field surveys and documentary and archive sources research; setting the foundations of onomastics theory issues as a linguistic branch; the dissemination of Romanian toponymic names spelling and pronunciation in other languages.
Some of the major published works in the domain are presented and commented upon (monographies, dictionaries, brochures, normative guides).
L’étude reflète les travaux des linguistes dans le domaine de la toponymie, mettant en évidence les principales directions et orientations de la recherche: la constitution du corpus onymique par des enquêtes sur le terrain aussi bien que des sources documentaires et des archives; la constitution des problèmes théoriques de l’onomastique comme discipline linguistique; la propagation des normes orthographiques et de transcription dans d’autres langues des noms topiques roumaines. Dans le présent article on a présenté et analysé les plus importants travaux scientifiques publiés (monographies, dictionnaires, brochures, guides de normalisation de la langue).
