Abstract:In the 14th – 19th centuries, the Romanian society in Dobrudgea developed within the economic, social and political framework of the period. The names of the administrative units, kaza, preserved the place-names of the towns situated strategically from the geographical and economic point of view, such as: HÎRŞOVA, MĂCIN, ISACCEA, MAHMUDIA, TULCEA or CONSTANȚA.
The present paper tries to demonstrate the fact that place-names relay geographical, political or administrative realities, and the fact that the Latin character of our nation and of the language has been always preserved, irrespective of the political and administrative conditions existing in any period of time.
