| Abstract: | This paper attempts to contribute to the elimination of the misunderstanding that the Orthodox do not read their Sacred Book critically. It will be shown here that in fact they do. Also the method used in such an endeavour will be discussed. The Orthodox understanding is that the Bible ‘speaks’ to persons and communities according to their particular needs. While arguing this, the paper will also touch on the role of tradition in interpreting this fundamental book of Christianity. |
