Abstract:The paper brings into question the choices made by the individuals and the destinies built according to the chosen paths. The American dramatist, Eugene O’Neill, brings on stage, in Mourning Becomes Electra, the struggle of the individual within the self and with the others revealing their feelings, doubts and searches in such a manner that the spectator is almost compelled to reflect upon his own existence. The paper analyzes the relationships established between the individuals and the outcome of their choices having in mind the idea that what best defines an individual is the way in which he relates to others and the decisions he makes.
