Abstract:The paper initiates the exploration of Mircea Cartarescu’s epic poem Levantul from a technical perspective, noticing the high number of textual strategies employed in the discourse and trying to reveal the effects they have on the themes, characters and concepts developed by the parabolic narrative. Levantul’s Postmodernist nature is linked to its ability of creating virtual, fictional worlds between which the hypertext works as a means of communication, expansion and illusion. A sort of Poetics of simulation, undermined by a post-Romantic obsession of totality, may be identified in the dynamics of the text.
