In Romanian poetry, the avant-garde is nothing else than the sign of an impetuous need for change. A mental change, a literary techniques change, a change in the order of values. And the writings of Ilarie Voronca, Ion Vinea and Geo Bogza genuinly reveal such a need for change on the level of language, artistic mentality and the horizone of imagery. The inovating action of the avant-garde, even though „schocking” or violent to the habits and expectancies of a confortable reader, has nevertheless been a purifying one. The avant-garde assumed exactly this role: to refuse compromise, to un-mysticize any common place or aesthetic cannon, to initiate a radical innovation in the poetic language.
În poezia românească, avangarda nu este altceva decât semnul unei impetuoase nevoi de schimbare. O schimbare mentală, o schimbare a tehnicilor literare, o schimbare în ordinea valorilor. Şi scrierile lui Ilarie Voronca, Ion Vinea şi Geo Bogza revelă o asemenea nevoie de schimbare la nivelul limbajului, al mentalităţii artistice şi al orizontului imaginii. Acţiunea inovatoare a avangardei, chiar violentă şi care şochează cititorul obişnuit, a fost una purificatoare. Avangarda şi-a sumat exact acest rol: să refuze compromisul, să demistifice orice loc comun sau canon estetic, să iniţieze o inovare radicală în limbajul poetic.
