Semantics studies the meanings of words and the relationships among them. A semantic analysis requires two levels : the level of the semantic system and the level of discourse. We have chosen the verb ‘a impune’ (to impose), whose denotative meaning is “to ask someone to do something”. The difference between ‘a cere’ and ‘a impune’ is marked by the semic category / the compulsory character.
