Abstract:The influence of English is overwhelming in the maritime engineering. The meteorological words should have existed in both Romanian and English language before the technological development. The meteorological terminology is analyzed and some of the characteristics are envisaged in the paper. The etymology of the old and new terminology in Romanian and English will be emphasized.
