Abstract: | In medieval times, the Western Church had a significant power both politically and culturally. The Western Middle Ages is characterized on the one hand by the sermon of Church representatives, but on the other hand, heretics also used to spread false teachings through sermon (an unacceptable thing for the representatives of Inquisition). Religious orders that relied Catholicism, especially the Franciscans and Dominicans, led a clean life aimed at preaching the Gospel and the salvation of the soul. Attitude towards magic and witchcraft practices, along with the punishments of hell, were the themes of the great preachers of the Middle Ages. The church tried in various ways to combat exaggerations and heretical ideas through sermons. |
