Abstract:The hidden realm of the Garden, the paradisiacal reality surrounded by a fence, is the place where the human being sins in order to acquire knowledge or receives the divine gift of truthful knowledge. The different narrative orchestrations of this myth testify about its privileged position in judaism, gnosticism and islam, about its continuous need to reelaborate, rememorate, meditate and amplify, within the framework of the Abrahamic religious traditions, the founding story concerning the fall into sinfulness and knowledge, as well as the theandric ideal of rising through knowledge. The stratum of the initial narratives included in the Written Laws (Torah, Khirbet Qumran Library, Qur’ān) is followed and completed by the exegetical stratum included in the Oral Laws (Talmud, Ahadīths), and by the stratum of mystical theology, included in the mystical books (Nag Hammadi Codex, Sefer ha-Zohar, Mathnawī).
