| Abstract: | [N.A. Ursu, a Lifetime of Service to the Romanian Philology] The paper is intended by its author as a presentation of N.A. Ursu, the distinguished philologist who has recently left us. His activity was focused on two main directions: the history of the Romanian literary language, with a particular attention to its modernisation period (the penetration and adaptation of loanwords), and the history of the Romanian old and pre-modern literature, where he used a rigorous philological investigation method to convey important contributions to the solution of unknown or debatable aspects. He was characterized by professionalism, erudition, honesty and generosity towards collaborators and young researchers; all these place him among the forerunners of the Romanian culture. |
